DEPARTMENT OF MARINE ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

      Established in the year 2002, with a sanctioned strength of 30 students, the Department prepares the students for the challenges of life at sea through a balanced program of technical studies, disciplinary training and numerous maritime activities. Bubbling with promising future, the Department asserts its presence with various unique features. Marine students not only do the courses specified by the Anna University but also those prescribed by the Directorate general of Shipping Mumbai.

GOALS
     In accordance with the mission and vision of the college, the Department has set the following goals.

  • To have programs to impart the best knowledge in various areas related to the marine engineering: material science, Power systems, Navigation systems, Computer applications and Information Technology.
  • To have committed faculty and a state-of-the-art facilities to impart education and training required for excellent professional development.
  • To furnish students withoutstanding leadership and team skills which are indispensable for success as professionals in maritime field.
  • To have links with marine establishments in India and abroad to impart work place related practical knowledge.

 

 
             
           
             

LAB FACILITIES
     The Department has a building-complex housing workshops, strength of materials lab, computer lab, fire fighting lab, marine accessories lab, I.C lab and fluid mechanics lab, Seamanship lab, heat Engine lab. The Ship-in-campus facility is nearing completion for commission in May 2005. A full engine Simulator Laboratory and a swimming pool facility are in progress.
